How to Install Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Firmware Update on Android One Sprout4 Phones

Step-By-Step Guide

1. First, download the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update on the desktop of your PC from the given links.
2. Now plug the Android One Sprout device to PC using its USB data cable.
3. Transfer the downloaded OTA .zip file to the root folder of your phone’s storage.
4. Turn Off your smartphone in order to boot into Recovery Mode / Stock Recovery.
5. Turn On the device while pressing and holding the Volume + Power buttons at the same time to until the phone enters into bootloader mode. Then hit the Volume button to open the Recovery menu and press the power button for selection. The Android One will boot into Recovery Mode. After displaying a dead Android with an exclamation mark, press and hold Power button for about 3 seconds and then hit the Volume UP button.
6. Go back to the main menu of Recovery and choose “install update from sdcard”.

Download Android Marshmallow 6.0 Firmware For Mxq 4k Tv Box

In 2016 we saw the first TV boxes featuring the Amlogic S905 being shipped. The S905 was the successor to Amlogics S805 SOC and came with Android 5.1 Lollipop, which at the time was a much-needed upgrade as rumors were rife that KODI 17 would not support Android operating systems below lollipop, this later proved to be true. Amlogic released the S905 in response to Rock chips release of their 3229 SOC and as a way of bringing a low-cost solution to playing 4K video files.

The S905 was a bit of a weird release for Amlogic as it was not long before the s905x was released which featured Android 6.0 Marshmallow. I found the S905X to be a much-improved SOC over the S905 as it was being placed into affordable boxes with a good amount of Ram and Storage along with stable firmware, unlike S905 which seemed to be struggling with its lollipop limitation and is mainly found in very cheap, low-end devices such as the MXQ Pro.

The S905 was a good SOC but I feel it just never had an opportunity to shine like its S905X and S905W successors. This brings us onto Marshmallow for the S905, this never really was an official release but when you have a TV box manufacturer like UGOOS putting out the firmware for their devices, we can take advantage.

Unfortunately, the S905 Android 6 Marshmallow firmware featured in the video below does not fully work, frustratingly it is a smooth system and runs remarkably well on my MXQ Pro but is lacking WiFi and Ethernet drivers which results in an almost useless system. Nevertheless, it just goes to show that the S905 is fully capable of running Android Marshmallow and in my experience would have no issues running Nougat or Oreo but that will never happen.

Feel free to try Marshmallow on your MXQpro using the download links below. I tested this on a P201 board which is a generic S905 board and can be found in many different TV boxes featuring the S905 from the time period.
